-21 November 1945: American Military Government orders wired radio reopened. Radio Berlin International in British Sector, it's transmitter in Tegel, but control in Soviet hands. RBI took over DLS (non-German Deutschlandsender?)

 

-1700 hours, 07 February 1946: Drahtfunk Im Amerikan Sektor starts, on remnant telephone-wire radio system of Western Berlin. 4 Americans oversee 80 Germans in the telephone exchange building

 

-05 September 1946: 800 watt transmitter on 492 khz, from Britz tree nursery

 

-March 1947: 2.5 kilowatt transmitter on

 

-June 1947: 25 kilowatt transmitter on, but at 477. Also: 6005 SW

 

-01 July 1947:20kW transmitter bows, later increased to 75KW

 

-February 1948: hours increase to 13 hours per day, then to 24 (with blockade)

 

-01 October 1950: RIAS on FM

 

-August 1953: GDR 1 bows 

 

-01 November 1953: RIAS 2 bows

 

-1958: RIAS 2 at 88.8 (80KW), RIAS i/iii at 92.1 (1.5 KW)

 

-October 1958: GDR 2 bows

 

-1964: GDR’s DT64 bows

 

-22 August 1988: RIAS TV, channel 25, bows

 

-April 1990: GDR 1 becomes Radio Aktuell

 

-May 1990: GDR merges with Deutschlandradio into DS-Kultur

 

-01 May 1992: RIAStv+ Deutsche Welle= Deutsche Welle Auslandfernsehen

 

-01 June 1992: RIAS 2 goes commercial as r.s. 2

 

-01 January 1994: Deutscheland Radio Berlin overtop RIAS at 89.6


-20 December 1995: RIAS, Deutschlandfunk and DS-Kultur become commercial free joint venture of ARD and ZDF, providing two national radio services
